Rebel Jane live, rehearse and record on a boat moored on the Thames in the shadow of Battersea power station. Here they craft songs which flit between poignant delicacy and high-octane emotion.
The genres Rebel Jane’s sound encompass are stalked and subverted. Influences are twisted and reshaped with little regard for convention. Drums, bass, guitars, pianos, percussion and layers of vocals create the landscapes on which the songs travel. The songs tell stories and paint pictures. Melancholy sits easy with defiance and melody with rhythm. Musical invention abounds but the songs are always put first.
