Choker
In May 2008, Janie and Ivy met in the smoking area of The Nelson in Sheffield. They discovered a mutual enthusiasm for beer, cigarettes and loud music and decided to form a band on the spot.
Ska joined after responding to a poster in the pub a few weeks later and the trio hit it off by getting wasted in the Dove n Rainbow and talking about L7's tampon throwing antics (you know you're gonna be mates with someone if you can talk to them about stuff like this when you barely know them!)
Rhythm guitarists came and went, but when Ska recommended her high school friend Jen for the job everything fell into place. Jen (known as the Bear) was found stumbling around Corporation toilets on a Saturday night...four down one to go!
The band tried out several drummers over the next few months, none of whom were quite right (in the head). Almost having given up hope, Janie found Tricky through an Internet advert, jumped on the next train to Chesterfield... and a week later, Choker was formed (16th January 2009).
2 weeks later, the band recorded a live demo of their first 5 songs. Loads more have been written and we'll put 'em on here when we get the chance! Çhökêr are now ready to take on the world...so lock up your sons (and daughters!) cos its gonna be sexy, soulful, messy and downright fuckin' mental!
