Darke Horse

+ Support

With the incessant whine of indie bands attacking the general public’s eardrums from every angle, it has been little surprise that Darke Horse, with their philosophy of bringing ballsy, entertaining rock back into the mainstream, have developed such a considerable following in the north of England and one that is expanding south. With their ferocious guitar licks and grinding bass lines, Darke Horse are sticking to their principles of building a sound that simply compels people to get up, dance and have a damn good time.

Originating from Sheffield, the four-piece have experienced a whirlwind of growing support since their inception at the end of 2007 which has seen them move from the humble surroundings at the back of a cushion factory to the middle of a recording studio with local producer legend Alan Smyth, not to mention having the launch of their single “Flat Screen Suicide” supported by former Andrew WK guitarist and producer Jimmy Coup.

2011 is continuing with the same level of momentum as Darke Horse are in talks with EMI and also legandary producer - Eliot Kennedy (Take That/Bryan Adams.) Their credentials have not gone unnoticed by the established side of the industry with drummer Jonno Lodge being described by Clive Burr and Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden fame as 'the best drummer since John Bonham,' and lead singer and guitarist Simon Kaviani voted best guitarist in the National Rock Idol competition as well as winning the Riffathon song writing contest, a contest set up by Jimmy Page and Brian May in aid of their charity ABC.
